Font size

Line spacing
At 12pt, single-spaced pages hold 500 words, 1.5-spaced pages hold approximately 333 words, and double-spaced pages hold 250 words.
Writing style
The Handwritten setting uses a lower words-per-page estimate than Typed, since handwriting is larger and less dense. Switch to Handwritten for assignments submitted on paper.
Margins
The calculator assumes standard 1-inch margins. Narrower margins (0.5 inches) increase words per page by approximately 30%.
